During this time of COVID-19, the Luib Health Center is here to support on maintaining your mental, physical, and spiritual health needs. In times of stress, lavender is a wonderful example to alleviate yourself in regards to promoting self-care. The lavender latin root “lavare” specifically means “to wash.” In addition to its history, the earliest recorded use of lavender dates back to ancient Egypt. Lavender oil played a role in the “mummification process.”
Since these ancient times lavender has been used to treat:
- mental health issues
- hair loss
And many more…
The most common way to use lavender essential oils is aromatherapy. Relaxing yourself in an environment that is comfortable to all your senses will definitely ensure a calm state of mind. Moreover, the soothing scent of lavender will surely reduce stress, anxiety, and in some cases, mild pain.
According to a study in the “Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine Trusted Source,” the application of topical lavender, sage and rose oils can ultimately “reduce the severity of menstrual cramps.”
