Hilot, through the Luib Health Center, is NOW in the USA as of late 2018. It was officially launched and added into the services of the integrative Filipino Wellness Center (The Luib Health Center in San Diego) early this 2019 year in January. Please help us share the news throughout your communities as the Luib Health Center and it’s House of Hilot is now officially the first and only Integrative Medicine and Holistic Wellness Center in the USA to promote, offer, and teach the fullness of Filipino Traditional Medicine and Indigenous Filipino Medicine (Native Hilot).
So what is Native Hilot? It is the Philippine country’s Traditional Medicine, rooted in the Ancient Filipino Healing Arts and Filipino Indigenous practices. Native Hilot includes its own comprehensive and holistic system for preventative on and lasting wellness care and is safe & effective. It includes history, examinations, variety of diagnostics, therapeutics and medicines sourced from any of the four kingdoms. Practitioners of this system of medicine believe that health and healing can be obtained from the help of plants, animals, minerals and from the guidance of the spiritual realm, together making the four kingdoms. They also believe that dis-ease can be caused by the lack of soul alignment, related to karmic deeds or negative energies. Hilot, is a hands-on healing art that involves intuition, connective tissue and fascia body work, etc. A Hilot practitioner, called manghihilot, is trained in soft tissue work and body-mind connections. Although Hilot is likened to a deep-tissue massage, the touch is gentle. The manghihilot, intuitively scans the body with hand touching as a means to diagnose areas which are energetically imbalanced. With this information received, the manghihilot will then focus on affected areas to create balance and relief. Each session is unique because of the focus on treating problematic areas. The benefits of Hilot include: balance, harmony, stress/pain reduction, improved circulation, increased range of motion, enhanced physiology and mood, promotion of overall wellness/better relationships and a deeper understanding of self and others.
Prior to 2018 and during her undergraduate studies as a Doctor of Chiropractic and Traditional Chinese Medicine Pracitioner, Dr. Catherine Sy Luib had already established her intuitive understanding of the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia in relation to the emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. Her early practice of spinal tuneups, alignments and tui na massages for her family and friends helped her develop this sensitivity. The variety of books she read over time on Indigenous Healing Arts, Native American Medicine and books on Hilot by Maestro Bibiano “Boy” S. Fajardo guided her further to learning more about her own Filipino cultural medicine. Even her connection to her Spirit Guides and Higher Self had always visited her in her dreams. Since her preteen years, she had frequent dreams of being the Exorcist, fighting other monsters, flying, saving souls and healing people and relationships. All this has shaped her understanding and development as a Mystic, Warrior, Teacher, Leader, and Healer.
Through the Filipino Young Leaders Program (An org of network leaders working with the Philippine Embassy, who are passionate about the Filipino heritage and advocate for initiatives, programs and causes that advance US and Philippine relations), Dr. Catherine Sy Luib of Luib Health Center was able to recently represent, discover and bridge her unique legacy project of restoring, activating and promoting Hilot globally. She was carefully selected among so many promising young FilAm Delegates by the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., the FYLPRO application judges and the Philippine Ambassador to the USA, Jose Manuel “Babe” del Gallego Romualdez.
In 2018, she respectfully received and learned of the Ancient Filipino Healing Arts and of the Filipino Indigenous practices as a graduate of Hilot Academy ng Binabaylan (An Educational Ministry of Luntiang Aghama) in San Jose Del Monte of Bulacan, Philippines. Her official Graduation Presentation from the Hilot Academy ng Binabaylan and Official Babaylan Recognition Ceremony also dually took place with her FYLPRO Delegate Recognition Ceremony at the prestigious and historical Ayuntamiento de Manila (considered as an architectural masterpiece, fronting Plaza de Roma in Intramuros, Manila, Philippines.)
Also known as “Babaylan Dayang Guro” (a title given to her by her teachers in the Philippines) and as an attuned healer, Dr. Cat is recognized as a Filipina Shaman and invokes the powerful wake and rise of the Warrior-Priestess class of Ancient Philippines to again resume their crucial part in the healing of nations, other beings and the planet. Since January of 2019, Dr. Cat now serves and offers Hilot to patients to address a variety of conditions ranging from physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual health needs. Luib Health Center, located in Scripps Ranch, is officially the first Integrated Medicine & Holistic Wellness Center in the USA to offer the fullness of Filipino Traditional Medicine (Hilot). She encourages those to experience its power and welcomes those who are seeking more health balance, improved energy and guidance in their lives. “Liberation Through Restoration Also Includes The Sacred Work Of Healing From Decolonization And The Return To Our Indigenous Memories. Will You Reconnect Deeper With Your Filipino Cultural Roots By Experiencing The Power Of Our Filipino Traditional Medicine And Be Part Of The Story Of Our Ancestors Once More?”
